Pettits — Shop Front Fascia & 3D Lettering, Rotherham
ZoomProject Overview
A brand refresh for one of Rotherham's best-known independent retailers. Pettits has been a family run business since 1860, stocking some of the widest ranges of branded shoes and accessories in the town — so a tired, blank fascia above four shop front sections needed to carry that heritage with real presence. We installed a continuous light grey fascia panel across the frontage and mounted raised 3D PETTITS lettering in dark charcoal above each section, with a smaller EST. 1860 wordmark centred between the doors. The result reads cleanly from both ends of the street and from pavement level, with the lettering depth catching light and casting soft shadows across the panel.
Client Goals & Challenges
The shop front is a long run broken up by entrance bays & doorways, so the fascia and lettering had to be laid out across existing panel joints rather than a single flat surface. The old frontage had been stripped back to a bare plywood substrate, and the heritage of the business — trading since 1860 — meant the new signage needed to feel current without losing the shop's established character.
Our Solution
We prepped and panelled the frontage as one continuous light grey fascia, then set out repeated PETTITS wordmarks above each bay with EST. 1860 centred between them. Letters were produced as raised 3D characters so the brand reads as dimensional signage rather than flat vinyl, and every wordmark was aligned to the same baseline and depth so the run looks continuous from the street, even where the frontage steps and doorways interrupt it.
Results & Impact
A unified, confident frontage across all four sections that lifts the whole street elevation. The dark lettering on pale grey holds strong contrast in daylight, the EST. 1860 detail quietly carries nearly 170 years of trading heritage, and the raised letters pick up shadow and definition from pavement level. The awning sits neatly below the new fascia with the shop windows now framed by a clean, modern header.
